Celebrating National Market Day

Here at Durham Markets, we are keen to give new businesses a helping hand.

In the last few years, we've helped many new businesses to get off the ground.

Think of the delightful handmade shabby chic items from Butterfly Barn, delicious hedgerow fruit jellies and jams from Durham Green Lane, beautiful silverware jewellery by Silver Dawning, designer-led tea, teaware and homeware items from The Teashed, teenage beauty products from It's All About Me Skincare and Very Cherry Teapots - to name just a few of the excellent businesses that have taken advantage of our stall offers and Durham Area Action Partnership's Stepping Up Campaign.

This Sunday, 1st July is National Market Day - so to mark the occasion, inspired by Mary Portas, we have given away 30 stalls on the Market Place to local independent businesses in a special 'stall for a tenner' promotion, offering the chance for new businesses and entrepreneurs to meet the public, make new contacts and test the water with their new ideas.

We are always delighted by the great depth of originality and flair of our own Durham entrepreneurs and are excited to browse the range of stalls on Sunday.

Why not come and join us! The National Market Day stalls will be trading on the Market Place from 11am to 4pm. Hope to see you there!

Alongside this event, there will also be a World War Two 'Dad's Army' display in the Market Place throughout the day, and vocal entertainment from a local 1970's hits singer.
