The Big E.A.T. brings amazing food to Durham's City Centre

Thursday 6th June to Sunday 9th June

It'll be a feast for all the senses from Thursday to Sunday in Durham Market Place - imagine the smells of Italian style cooking, salami, caramelised nuts, olives, cheeses ... and Sangria!  And that's just a little taster of what's to come.

Popular street market back for second visit to Durham

The Big E.A.T – Market Square – Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 June 2013

A TASTY touring street market will be back in the city next weekend as Durham welcomes back The Big E.A.T.

Following a successful visit in March, the colourful event is returning to the Market Square on Thursday 6 June for a four day feast of fun and promises a unique eating and shopping experience for visitors.  Plus, with the addition of a mini real ale festival, the event will be sure to offer something to please everyone’s tastes.

Organised by The Market Square Group, the event brings together Ethical & eco-friendly, Artisan and Traceable produce and products both from local sources and from across the globe.  An eclectic mix of world street food plus local and regional homemade grocery foods will be on offer alongside arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery and accessories.

The Group’s Paul Kennedy said: “We’re really pleased to be invited back to Durham with this event which is a new theme for 2013.  It was very well received in March and we will, once again, be bringing along quality goods that are manufactured both in the UK and abroad under fair working conditions and with fair reward for all involved in their production.”

A wide range of tasty foods will be on offer from traders who can show an in-depth knowledge of the origin and traceability of their products – all sourced locally where possible.

Visitors to the market will be entertained by classical violinist, Andrew Hubbard who has extensive performing experience on both the violin and the piano in the West End, in theatre and session work. He has played piano in the orchestra for The Phantom of the Opera.  He also performs as a classical pianist and is half of an innovative opera cabaret act, "Cavalleria Rustica". In addition, he accompanies singers who work in the International Opera scene.

Come and join in the fun at Durham’s Big E.A.T. For more details, visit www.marketsquaregroup.com .
